Product of the Month: OutPAK and i/oXPAK

(07/06/2005)

The OutPAK and i/oXPAK are the Integrated Field Assemblies for deployment of the OutDAQ 3300 RTU and I/O Interface Assemblies in situations where instrument locations are dispersed, as is often the case in embankment dams, slopes, water canals and rivers.

These Integrated Field Assemblies come in complete kits and can be readily mounted in less than 2 hours on concrete pedestals or foundations in which anchor bolts, provided by Geomation, are set beforehand.

The OutPAK incorporates a pedestal mount stanchion to which a model 1901 enclosure is mounted laterally, a solar panel/antenna mast and a master Spread Spectrum radio to communicate with i/oXPAKs. The 1901 enclosure houses a 3300 RTU, a battery charger, a rechargeable battery, a 900 MHz Spread Spectrum radio to communicate with a host computer (other communication options such as satellite, telephone, fiber optic and wireline links are also available) and up to 3 I/O Interface Assemblies.

The i/oXPAK is visually quite similar to the OutPAK, although the 1902 enclosure mounted laterally on the stanchion is smaller, as it contains only I/O Interface Assemblies (up to 3) and an alkaline battery pack with enough autonomy to power the I/O Interface Assemblies and the slave Spread Spectrum radio (also mounted laterally on the stanchion) for one year. The Model 1152 MicroSolarPowerPak is also available as power source for the i/oXPAK in replacement of the alkaline battery pack.

Integrated Field Assembly i/oXPAK at toe of dam to monitor individual piezometers ( up to 5).
