Product of the Month: Model 1920 ENRTU

(04/15/2005)

The Model 1920 ENRTU is the enclosure for deployment of the OutDAQ 3300 RTU and I/O assemblies in situations where instrument locations are concentrated, as is often the case in concrete dams where instrument cables are directed to inspection galleries.

Several geotechnical monitoring applications, such as foundations, excavations, shafts, retaining walls and others, involve concentrated instrument locations. The ENRTU takes advantage of the fact that all OutDAQ system components, including the RTU, the I/O assemblies, the battery charger and the communication links, are mounted on standard DIN rails.

As can be seen on the picture, an enclosure can contain a large number of I/O assemblies. Interconnection of I/O assemblies between themselves and also with the RTU is by means of bridging jumpers on the i/oXBUS and earth ground connection is bussed to adjacent I/O assemblies with ground link straps, eliminating the need for multiple ground connections.

The ENRTU is available in different sizes to accommodate small number of I/O assemblies or large numbers, up to 24. For larger number of I/O assemblies connected to a single RTU, one or several enclosures can be interconnected by means of a simple extension using a 5-conductor cable between the screw terminals of the last I/O assembly in a first enclosure, and the first assembly in the second enclosure, and so on. The maximum length of the i/oXBUS cable is 1200 m ( 4400 ft).
