2003-Eliminating Lightning Damage For Field Data Acquisition Systems

This paper was presented at the 6th International Symposium on Field Measurements in GeoMechanics, Sept 15-18, 2003, in Oslo, Norway. It provides a rational background to explain in what way data acquisition systems deployed in the field have historically been far more susceptible to damage by lightning transients than equivalent systems located in protected structures.
